Hello! I'm Jocelyn!
Hi, I am Jocelyn Skoler, a licensed master social worker who facilitates the WMC’s Teen Support Group and DBT Skills coaching sessions! I am experienced in working with adolescents and young adults who face challenges related to anxiety, relationships, emotional regulation, suicidal ideation, gender identity, and body image. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and skills-based. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support clients as they process emotions, learn coping mechanisms to manage distress and challenge maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. In my free time, you will find me attending a fun workout class, exploring NYC’s vibrant food scene, or watching re-runs of old sitcoms like The Office!
My Story
Jocelyn grew up in New York City in a close-knit family with her parents and older sister. She experienced anxiety throughout her adolescence, which made her appreciate the value of professional help for mental health issues. She is passionate about helping individuals improve mental and emotional wellbeing, increase resilience and reduce distress.
After graduating from Harvard College as a psychology major, Jocelyn started her career in consulting at The Boston Consulting Group. She soon recognized that her true interest was in the psychology field focused on mental health. She transitioned to work at an outpatient mental health clinic, specifically working with teens and young adults with substance use and mental health disorders. Finding this work deeply rewarding, Jocelyn committed to a career as a mental health specialist.
Jocelyn earned her Master of Social Work degree from The University of Southern California. Most recently, Jocelyn provided assessment, psychotherapy, family planning, and crisis intervention to a diverse population at an acute psychiatric hospital. Jocelyn’s work experiences and academic studies have equipped her with the skills to assist clients in addressing the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional patterns that often lead to distress.
Jocelyn is dedicated to providing her clients with a safe, nonjudgmental environment in which they can process their emotions, establish goals, and develop strategies for achieving those goals. Although she presently resides in Menlo Park, CA, she is eager to return this summer to New York City.
